Frequently asked questions.
May I see examples of what the content of letters are like?
Yes! Check out my page full of sample letters.
How soon does the first letter arrive?
Once you receive your confirmation email, the first letter will be mailed within one to two weeks.
What if my child can’t write yet?
That’s completely alright! There are so many ways to communicate. They can draw a picture or put stickers on a piece of paper — all ideas are welcome! The goal is to teach children about corresponding through mail. The art of back-and-forth communication all through their mailbox.
Is Mailbox Friend the same idea as a Penpal?
The goal of Mailbox Friend goes beyond being a Penpal. It teaches children about different kinds of mail one can receive such as a letter, card, and a postcard. How to address an envelope and use a stamp. Plus teaches children the responsibility to respond to the mail they receive.
Is there an age limit for who can receive letters?
No, there is no age requirements at all. My goal is to help anyone at any age learn the art of sending and receiving letters. In my free time I am a Volunteer at BrightStone and work with adults with developmental disabilities. I’m happy to work one-on-one with parents/guardians to customize the letters to fit each individuals learning needs.
May I purchase a Letter Package as a gift?
Yes, of course! I recommend giving the receivers' parent/guardian a heads-up so they are aware of Mailbox Friend and that a letter will be arriving soon.
What does “good for six months” or “one year” mean for the three different Letter Packages?
From the month you place your order, depending on which Letter Package selected, the child will have either six months or one year to write me back letters.
If my child decides they don’t want to write letters, is there a way to cancel?
Yes — if a child isn’t engaged or looking forward to writing / receiving their next letter, I’ll refund whichever package you selected on a prorated basis, based on how many letters were sent. No problem! .
This all sounds interesting, however I have more questions. May I contact you?
Yes, of course! I completely understand and welcome all questions. I want everyone to feel 100% confident. Please contact me anytime at becky@mailboxfriend.com, and if needed we can set up a phone call too. Here’s my contact page!
